Bengaluru, August 9, 2023 – The Agri Innovation Centre of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru (UASB), orchestrated a remarkable event on August 9th, known as the Agri Innovation Impulse 2023 exhibition. The event provided a platform for emerging agricultural startups to present their latest advancements in agricultural research and technology. Hosted at the picturesque UASB campus, this event marked a significant milestone in the agri-entrepreneurship landscape.
Founded in 2017, the Agri Innovation Centre (AIC) has been at the forefront of fostering agri-entrepreneurship by providing essential grants and support to more than 30 startups. These startups are actively engaged in transformative work across various domains, including crop improvement, crop protection, and crop production. A select cohort of these pioneering startups were given the opportunity to showcase their innovations, offering a glimpse into the future of agriculture.
Dr. Veena S. Anil, the dedicated Coordinator of the Agri Innovation Centre (AIC), explained, "The exhibition and the AIC share a common goal – to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset among individuals passionate about agriculture." Dr. S.V. Suresh, the esteemed Vice-Chancellor of UASB, emphasized the need to promote such agricultural innovation while aligning it with the university's overarching policies. Dr. Suresh believes that increasing visibility for these innovations will not only foster healthy competition but also drive progressive growth within the agricultural sector.
An inspiring highlight of the event was the recognition bestowed upon the startups collaborating with the UASB. Dr. Suresh proudly revealed that a total of seven patents have been granted to these forward-looking startups. The affiliation with the renowned university has provided them invaluable access to cutting-edge insights, expertise, and state-of-the-art facilities.
Gracing the event as the Chief Guest was Dr. Jitendra Kumar, the Managing Director of the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC). Dr. Kumar praised the potential of agricultural entrepreneurship, acknowledging its current exponential trajectory. He urged for the establishment of institutional mechanisms to introduce students to this technology during their studies, thereby empowering them to embark on their entrepreneurial journeys.
